True competitive player are a tiny proportion of 40K players, if you start off with the mindset Warhammer is like chess you will be in for a shock - the randomness of rolling dice means any plan can be foiled by the dice. Whereas in chess there is always a mathematically optimal move, 40K requires a much more flexible approach.Even before we get to melee, the venom cannon blows the doors off any of the heavy bolter options for 5 less points. And the base deathspitter outclasses any of the normal options for intercessors. If the intercessors weren't wildly outclassed in output, then the points would make more sense. 2.I play 40k with a large group of friends.
